Is Your Closet Unorganized? Let's Get it Under Control!
What does your dream closet look like?
I came across an article I wrote a few years ago at my internship that is still relevant today, and I wanted to share a few tips on how to organize your closet.
We all have a lot going on, our schedules are hectic, and not enough time in the day to do anything right? We have clothes all over our room, and books and paperwork piled up on our desk. It’s the summer time, take a day off and let’s get organized!! So, how do you organize your closet? Some people just throw clothes on hangers and keep it moving, while others have their closets color-coordinated with shoe organizers and shelving units. If you’re an “on the go” person it’s a real struggle, but let’s start trying today!
You may have a guest coming over for the first time, maybe a house warming party, and now it’s time to show off your closet space. “BOOM!” all of your clothes fall out of your closet, and that awkward moment sets in. You are then scrambling to fix it, and your guest are trying to help. Really!? Uh no. That’s not a way to show off your space! Now the main memory they have of your new place is that “overly filled closet” instead of your beautiful new apartment. Let’s get this under control!
There are a million-and-one ways to organize your closet space and keep it FABULOUS.
- Get rid of the clothes that you are no longer wearing! It is not only taking up space, but they are probably now out of style! Try to make cash off of your items. Goodwill and Salvation Army loves clothing donations. Also, some consignment stores accept anything that is fashionable and gives you cash in return. Also, BE CREATIVE! Add fabric, nail-heads, and cut up your pieces into recent trends and sell them to your friends and family.
- Store the most used items in plain sight, while the less used items and clothing on the bottom or higher up.
- Find a store that sells organizing shelving, cubbies, or boxes to get your closet in shape. Ikea and the container store offers a lot shelving units on a really cheap budget. Thrift stores and garage sales usually have shelving units for sale in which you can paint and design to personalize your own style. Also, remember to keep your clothes folded neatly to avoid the pile up from coming back.
What about your accessories?
People are creative when it comes down to making accessory displays. Pinterest is a social media site which allows people around the world to post pictures and display their creativity. It has cool pictures on how to make your own jewelry organizer. It is fun, fabulous, and you can personalize each display to make it fit your personality.
Now that you have learned a couple of tips from ME, Let’s get to organizing!! Tell me your cool ideas and share them with your friends and family also.
Until next time,
